Are you interested in exploring how to pursue the practice of making art on a professional level? This full day workshop will look at different aspects of the profession of artmaking - focussing on an Indigenous hands on approach.
The Art of Managing Your Career is a workshop series for Indigenous artists shares information about the different aspects of an art career from an Indigenous perspective. The workshop’s participatory approach is based in the Indigenous ways of learning. The information applies to all artistic disciplines but it can be easily focused more on certain practices, depending on the group. A series of discipline enhancement booklets are used for this purpose. Those discipline enhancement booklets include: Crafts, Dance and Choreography, Film and Television, Music and Sound Recording, New Media, Theatre, Visual Arts and Writing.
The workshop series will be led by Dominga Robinson and Lindsay Knight
The panel will take place from 7pm to 9pm and feature Steven Paul Judd (NTVS Colthing), Mike Dubois (Dub Photo), Michael Langan (Colonialism Skateboards) and Joely BigEagle (Buffalo People Arts & Tatanka Boutique). The panel discussion will be open to the public (no registration required).
